Types of hair transplant

  • Slit grafts: In this method, it contains 4 to 10 hairs per graft.

  • Micro-grafts: In this type, there are only 1 to 2 hairs per graft.

Method

There are two methods to perform the surgery.

Surgery

The surgery of hair transplant can take 4 hours or more. Rest depends on the case of the patient that how much area needs the treatment.

Before the surgery, the patient is given local anesthesia to numb there scalp area so that they don’t feel any type of pain.

The first method is FUT, the surgeon will cut a strip of hair with the help of a scalpel. The strip is taken from the back of the scalp. For this, the incisions which are made are very long and they are closed with the stitches. Then the surgeon will separate the removed portion which needs to be transplanted on the affected area. This helps in achieving a natural look. The disadvantage of this method is that it leaves a scar on the scalp which is noticeable.

The second method is FUE in this, the surgeon takes the hair follicles one by one from the back of the scalp where hair growth is prominent. Then these hair follicles are transplanted on the affected area. In one session of treatment, the doctor might transplant thousands or hundreds of hair. After the surgery, the scalp is covered with a bandage for a few days. The doctor will remove the stitches, after 10 days. In some cases, the patients require more than one session of treatment to achieve the desired results. The patient can go home on the same day, after the transplant.

Cost of the surgery

One of the important factors of the surgery is cost. The cost depends on different factors such as a number of grafts required for the surgery, the experience of the surgeon, from where you are getting the treatment, and the place. You should consult the doctor properly about different factors.
